Xcel with Dr. Bonnie
Being Consistently Thankful
As healthcare leaders we focus on consistency: consistently rounding on patients, consistently making sure the bed is in the low position and the siderails are up, consistently checking the 5 R’s when giving medications, consistently introducing ourselves to patients and explaining what we are about to do before we do it, consistently punching in on time so your peers can go home with their families. I am sure you can think of a myriad of other “consistent” behaviors you expect of both yourself and your employees.
How to Talk to and Work Successfully With My Finance Partner
You may be thinking, “which part of the ‘financial stuff’ on my unit is important? I’m not sure you will like the answer, but here it is. All of it. Charge capture, staff scheduling, overtime, etc.
True Accountability
The word “accountability” is tossed around without much thought given regarding the steps involved in the mastering this skill.
Getting bad news
Bad news has many shapes and comes in the form of a variety of conversations.
Priorities
As a young manager, I often told employees to “call me anytime. I want to make sure you understand that I am available to you.”
‘‘There was one thing that absolutely made me happiest with working with Dr. Bonnie. When I read her profile page, her personality shown through, I could tell that we would be an absolute match.’’
